Climate Change, Myth or Science?

Now that Congress has determined that CO2 is both a pollutant and the cause of Climate Change, may we please attempt to differentiate between science and politics?

Through the science of spectroscopy it has been proven that our atmosphere contains 19 trillion tons of CO2 and contributes ~ 3.6% to the greenhouse effect through atmosphere absorption. Water vapor absorption contributes ~ 95% to the greenhouse effect and the remainder comes from Nitrogen, Methane and other gasses in much smaller amounts. Taking into account the difference in the specific gravity of these other gasses, the atmosphere totals about 216 trillion tons of matter.

It has also been determined that that amount of CO2 that we put into the atmosphere each year from all sources is about 3.2 billion tons. Or, about 0.0168 percent of the total CO2 in the atmosphere. Furthermore, that 3.2 billion tons of CO2 represents a mere 0.0014% of the total atmosphere.

Are there any credible scientists who truly believes that these incredibly small amounts of CO2 in this vast atmosphere really can affect climate change? May we also mention that the fields of plants that replace the forests that were cut down absorb three times more CO2 than the forests?

So what causes climate change? As always, sun spots. Keep in mind that just one sun spot is about three times the size of earth. When there are many of them, we have global warming (which ended in 1998, by the way). When we do not, we have global cooling. History simply repeating itself.

Therefore, what is the real reason behind all of the Climate Change claims? Politics? Money? Government control of our actions? To destroy capitalism?

There is no science or math to support man made global warming based on carbon dioxide - CO2 emissions.  It is scientifically and mathematically impossible for man made CO2 to influence the earth’s climate.  Any competent scientist can read the earth’s atmospheric absorption/transmission spectra and understand why.

CO2’s three narrow (~75nm) absorption bands absorb a very small amount of the sun’s energy.  Man made CO2 is only 0.0014% compared to mother-nature’s CO2. Man made CO2 absorption is microscopic when compared to water, Earth’s largest greenhouse gas. Man made CO2 provides an insignificant ~ 0.00064% increase in the absorption of the sun’s radiation.  To put this into perspective, if a $250,000.00 home is the Earth’s atmosphere, we pay 1.6 cents per year for man made CO2 interest payment.

Earth’s Water absorbs over 95% of the sun’s energy. Water is the earth’s greatest greenhouse gas and along with the Earth’s Sun is responsible for our climate.  Water and CO2 both go through cycles.   These gasses cycle from the earth’s surface up through atmosphere and then back to the surface again.  Water is responsible for nearly all of the sun’s energy transfer. One would need to ignore water and pretend CO2 is the only gas in order to predict long term climate change.  And this is exactly what these ignorant people have done.

Water vapor absorbs and retains a large amount of heat and then cools the atmosphere each time is evaporates.  This is the same endothermic (cooling) that you feel as your skin cools (and you get goose bumps) when you first get out of the bath or shower.  CO2 and water are mixed together in the atmosphere.  CO2 is cooled off by water when the water evaporates.

There is not one single credible scientist who can demonstrate that incredibly small amounts of CO2 gas absorption can affect climate change.  That is unless they ignore water in their calculations.  When atmospheric CO2 levels increase, plants grow faster, absorb more CO2 from the atmosphere and store more CO2 in the earth’s lands and seas.

On Earth, water is the greatest greenhouse gas.

One look at the atmospheric transmission spectra from ~ 500 nm to 24 microns reveals why water vapor has a 95% and CO2 has a 3.6% contribution to the “greenhouse effect”.(see the spectra page)

Environmental Effects of Increased Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide

3.2 billion tons/year world wide CO2 emissions (cars & trucks) is about 0.0168% of the atmosphere’s total CO2 concentration of 19 trillion tons. This is a 0.00064% increase in the absorption of the sun’s radiation.  This is a very small number.

I guess this is why many so called “scientific” computer simulations predict global warming based on increased greenhouse gas emissions without water’s contribution  taken into account. Ignore the largest greenhouse gas..can you say Error Analysis?

A 1998 scientific study shows that plants in North America’s farmlands absorb almost 2 billion tons more CO2 than the old forests.  That’s 0.5 billion tons more CO2 removal than the 1.5 billion tons generated in 1998 by burning fossil fuels [1]. Experiments show higher atmospheric levels of CO2 result in larger and faster growing crops. (i.e. more efficient food production) [2,3]  Please help us eliminate pollution and balance the earth’s CO2. Purchase pollution & carbon credits and carbon debits. The geological record shows large global temperature variations throughout history. Over the last 3000 years the average temperature of the earth’s surface is estimated to be 73.4 degrees F.  During the period following the Little Ice Age (between 1450 and 1850) we experienced an upward trend in the earth’s average temperature going from about 72 deg. F to 73 deg. F. The NY Times first started reporting “Junk Science” news soon after its inception in the year 1851.  For example:

During the 1890s the NY Times reported another impending ice age.

During the 1930s, the NY Times reported that we were threatened by global warming.

In the 1950s, the NY Times reported that there was nothing - no global warming or cooling.

In 1975, the New York Times reported global cooling and public schools started teaching children that we were beginning a new ice age.

In the 1980s the NY Times reported that we were back to global warming again.

*Abstract - A review of the research literature concerning the environmental consequences of increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide leads to the conclusion that increases during the 20th and early 21st centuries have produced no deleterious effects upon Earth’s weather and climate.  Increased carbon dioxide has, however, markedly increased plat growth.  Predictions of harmful climatic effects due to future increases in hydrocarbon use and minor greenhouse gases like CO2 do not conform to current experimental knowledge.  The environmental effects of rapid expansion of the nuclear and hydrocarbon energy industries are discussed.
